Electrical Installation Common Design Practices and Regulations

Speakers: Er Lee PC, Nicholas, Er. HC Lim

Date & Time: 29 & 30 November 2023, 0830-1730 (2 days)

Venue: Hotel Grand Pacific, Singapore 188018

Course fee: $695

Objective

The purpose of this short course will enable the participants to gain, strength and deepen their knowledge of electrical installation common design principles, relevant regulatory requirements, roles and responsibilities of LEW and licensee of an electrical installation as well as liabilities for non-compliance. Appropriate preventive measures can then be instituted at the design stage to avoid future unnecessary electrical accidents. The participants will be guided through various types of design requirements under the relevant codes of practice, for instance, protection against electric shock, over current, faults and under voltage as well as testing, etc. In regard to SS638 and SS650, inter alia.

This course is structured to apply the design principles in electrical installations under the current regulator framework to enhance the installations’ capability and operation confidence level. At the end of the course, participants will gain greater confidence with the necessary knowledge acquired in practical applications of electrical installation design principles as well as the regulatory requirements imposed while performing their job roles at workplaces.

Who should attend:

This course is suitable for all practitioners who are electricians, electrical technicians, engineers, technical executives, supervisors, and LEWs, etc., dealing with electrical installation design, construction, operation and maintenance work, etc., and also to participants in career switching to electrical related jobs, as this course will provide the necessary knowledge for the non-electrical workers to follow up.

The course is also good for the company management, project managers, safety practitioners and owners of the electrical installations, etc. to attend and understand the regulatory requirements as well as the design principles, and take appropriate action to enhance safety management of the installations.

Introduction

Electrical installations shall be designed to meet the regulatory, COP and operation requirements to ensue it is safe, cost-effective and reliable throughout its lifetime. It is paramount important  that practitioners, operators and owners of these installations to have the necessary knowledge of the laws and design principles of the installations to ensure the installation is safe to use and in compliance with the prevailing regulatory requirements.
